ABSOLUTE VALUES
While the 24% decrease in absolute Scope 1 emissions shows a positive pattern, it is important to note that these
emissions are often tied to 昀氀uctuating climate temperatures during cold periods, meaning the result may not solely
be due to internal efforts (See appendix 1).
In Scope 2, the Micro Matic Group achieved a 17% decrease in absolute emissions. This was driven by a Groupwide strategy to optimize and consolidate companies, as well as the general decarbonization of national electricity
grids. Our commitment to renewable energy is paying off; several entities, including those in Germany, Lithuania,
Sweden, and Luxembourg, now utilize 100% green electricity. This transition is most visible through our market-based calculations, which show a 39% reduction in Scope 2 (market-based) emissions when considering Guarantees of Origin. A deeper analysis hereof will be introduced later.
While internal operations demonstrated improvements, Scope 3 absolute emissions rose by approximately 2%.
Although this increase remains marginal, a deeper analysis reveals that the primary driver was substantial one-off
investments in Scope 3, Category 2 (Capital Goods). This category saw signi昀椀cant growth compared to the base
year due to new enterprises joining the Group, equipment upgrades, and investments in IT infrastructure and a new
ERP system. These are considered essential, one-time investments to support long-term sustainable growth and
operational e昀케ciency.
Additionally, the integration of Micro Matic Oprema and Bloom contributed to changes in our footprint within Scope
3, Category 1 (Purchased Goods and Services), as their products require metals such as stainless steel, aluminum,
brass, and electronic components including compressors and pumps. Business travel emissions (Scope 3, Category 6) also increased by 67%, largely attributed to the increasing need for in-person engagement and procedural
alignment across newly acquired sites.
Key Scope 3 trends (FY22/23 base year vs. FY24/25):
• Total Scope 3 increased by approximately 2%, primarily due to Scope 3, Category 2 (Capital Goods).
• Scope 3, Category 2 (Capital Goods) increased substantially (+5 249%), driven by acquisitions and major investments in equipment, IT infrastructure, and a new ERP system.
• Scope 3, Category 1 (Purchased Goods and Services) decreased by 21% overall, while remaining a major
contributor; changes re昀氀ect cost base 昀氀uctuations and evolving Group composition/material mix. Extrapolation
method may also in昀氀uence reported values. The method used for extrapolation may also affect the reported
昀椀gures. Micro Matic Group has outlined a plan to develop a more comprehensive database for recognizing and
categorizing materials for better categories of data outcomes.
• Scope 3, Category 6 (Business Travel) increased by 67%, largely related to integration activities following new
site additions.
• Scope 3, Category 7 (Employee Commuting) decreased by 41%, associated with increased EV adoption and
remote working practices where feasible.
• Scope 3, Category 11 (Use of Sold Products) decreased by 21%, in昀氀uenced by decreasing electricity emission
factors in many markets, as well as in some cases still ine昀케cient recognition of electrical products.
The Micro Matic group is further engaging our suppliers to gain a better understanding of actual, supplier-speci昀椀c
emissions for materials that we purchase – creating databases for us, this work is time consuming and slow, but
as world is moving towards sustainability we expect to get more granular data to reach us in a coming years. We
also believe that by starting such collaborations we will be able to achieve not only better data maturity but also it
would lead toward mutual emissions reduction.
GREENING OUR OPERATIONS: LOCAL SUCCESS STORIES
We look at our sustainability journey as one of continuous improvements. This year, our sites implemented local
projects that collectively contributed to our overarching reduction objectives.
